            The Basic Education School of Northern Christian College offers kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and senior high school.  It intends to substantially improve the basic education of the students and thereby qualify them after graduation from Senior High School either for further education by going to college or the university, or for immediate employment in the upper levels of the job market with their newly-acquired high-level skills.

 

     The Basic Education School seeks to:

  1. Provide spiritual growth and development in order to infuse Christian ideas;

          The College of Nursing offers a program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

           It  aims   to  meet  the  increasing  need  for  health  care   and  medical  services.  The  graduate  of  nursing  is  one  who is scientifically informed, socially aware, committed, and technically competent. 

The program aims to develop a professional nurse who:

  1. Manifests a sensitive awareness to the health needs of the society as well as commitment to the alleviation of problems arising thereof;
  2. Demonstrates the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes for the promotion of health, prevention of diseases, restoration of health, and alleviation of suffering; and
  3. Can assume entry level positions in health facilities or community settings;
  4. Provides safe, humane, quality and holistic care to individuals: of varying age, gender, and health-illness status; healthy or at-risk families; population groups; and community; singly or in collaboration with other health care provider to promote health, prevent illness, restore health alleviate suffering and provide end of life care.
  5. Reflects a proper research ethic that, through the use of the nursing process, leads to the beneficial utilization of findings;

 

Program Description

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four- year program consisting of general education and professional courses. Professional courses are threaded through from the first year thru the fourth year with emphasis on the nursing concepts with corresponding Related Learning Experiences. The BSN program provides on intensive nursing practicum that will refine further the nursing competencies to ensure achievement of the BSN program outcomes required of an entry level nurse.

To ensure the quality of the nursing graduate, the degree is conferred upon the completion of at least four-year BSN program offered by a college, professional institution duly recognized by the Commission on Higher Education. In the Philippines the BSN degree is equivalent to level 6 of the Philippine Qualifications Framework.

The BSN program aims to develop a professional nurse who is able to:

SCHOOL OF MIDWIFERY

The School of Midwifery offers a 2-year Diploma course. The Midwifery program aims to train students into becoming highly competent and efficient midwives who can handle maternal and infant health care in the hospital and community setting.

The program aims to develop the knowledge, attitude, and skills of first level midwives in the care of the girl-child, adolescent, and the adult woman prior to, during, and following pregnancy.

 

This prepares midwives to:

  1. Give the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labor and post partum period; and
  2. Manage normal deliveries on her own responsibility and care for the child

 

Specifically, graduates of the 2-year program are expected to:

  1. Perform primary health care services within the community (promotive & preventive care);
  2. Counsel and educate women, family and community regarding family planning including preparation for parenthood/parenting.;
  3. Detect abnormal conditions in the mother and infant; and
  4. Procure specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral).

Arts and Sciences Program

     The Arts and Sciences Program offered under this college is Bachelor of Arts (AB) with majors in History, English, Political Science, and Environmental Science. The  program is the study of the Arts with Natural & Social Sciences as well as studies in humanities and other disciplines, intended to facilitate the integral development of an individual in order to enable him/her to effect changes in himself/herself and his/ her environment to realize fullness of human life.

     The Arts and Sciences program aims to:

  1. Provide general knowledge in arts and sciences to strengthen awareness to economics, socio-political and spiritual needs, and demands of the environment;

Program Description

          The courses  in  the  program  are  designed  to  integrate  theory  and  practice  to  prepare  the  students  for  effective communication in English in diverse contexts and situations.

          Global communication in the twenty-first century is made possible by the use of a language understood by all. That language is English, the medium used in the pursuit of knowledge, the advancement of science and technology, and the development of business and industry. It gives humankind access to the infinite resources of the Internet and thus enables countries to work together to achieve their common goals. New information and research findings are efficiently shared in this international lingua franca.

          As an official language in the Philippines, English is used in government and law, education, media, business, and industry. As such, there is a demand for graduates who not only have adequate facility of English but can competently and effectively use the language in different contexts and for various purposes.

Program Outcomes

       The minimum standards for the AB English Language/AB English Language Studies program are expressed in the following program outcomes:

  1. Articulate a comprehensive and contextualized view of the English language system and development.
