A world-class blend of heavenly voices singing Christian hymns and classical songs filled the New NCC Auditorium when the world-renowned Manila Concert Choir (MCC) graciously serenaded the whole NCC community and prominent Laoag City residents who appreciate beautiful music.

For three times now, the NCC community has been privileged to experience cultural entertainment for free. For this year, the MCC performed in the afternoons of February 18 and 19. On the first day, students, members of faculty, staff, and the administration led by College President, Dr. Caesar I. Agnir, jampacked the auditorium.

President Agnir gave a brief introduction of the MCC. Then harmonious singing started at exactly 5 o’clock. The choir sang 17 beautiful songs uninterrupted until 6:30 p.m. The audience gave several standing ovations and loud cheers to the choir at the end of each song.

On the second day, another enthusiastic group of audience which included guests and visitors from various private and public agencies in the province, officials from local government units of Laoag City, members of various churches, specifically the UCCP church, and members of the NCC Board of Trustees, filled the hall. A number of NCC students also came back to listen for the second time. As expected, the MCC delighted the audience with their excellent singing. The MCC received, once again, standing ovations from the appreciative audience.

The two-day event ended successfully. President Agnir led the NCC community in extending deep gratitude to the MCC. Likewise, the MCC thanked the President and his wife, Prof. Adela N. Agnir, for bringing them to NCC and to Laoag, and be able to share beautiful music with all music lovers of the place.

“NCC has always been the best audience we have,” remarked Prof. Leonor Briones, MCC president, at the close of the show.

The MCC has been in existence for almost 50 years now and is headed by Prof. Leonor Briones, former National Treasurer.

Dr. Romulo Pizana, Ph.D. in Mathematics, is the choir conductor, and Prof. Mark Oliveros, teacher in the UP School of Music, is the piano accompanist. The choir members came from various professions and religious affiliations. But they are bonded by one goal - to minister by sharing beautiful Christian music to everyone who loves to listen. # Roxane Balneg. Uploaded by Nelson Lacadin and Gregg Bonoan.
