In its annual tradition of renewing NCC’s commitment as a Christ-centered institution, the College of Theology (COT) spearheaded the week-long Christian Emphasis Week celebration on January 24-28, 2011 in three major activities.

The conventional Morning Devotion in the morning of January 25, 2011 at the NCC New Auditorium ushered the event. Pastor Florentino A. Reyes, Jr., Deputy College Chaplain, served as the preacher. Ptr. Reyes centered his meditation on: Para Kanino Ka Bumabangon? from the Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 5:14-20. He challenged the congregation when he emphasized three things to do every waking day: Rise up to glorify God; Rise up to love your neighbor; and Rise up to serve your neighbor.

Prof. Adela N. Agnir, dean of the College of Theology, served as the preacher during the event’s Worship Hour on January 26, 2011, Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at the same venue. Prof. Agnir lifted her reflection from Philippians 3:13. With her meditation titled: “…I do: forgetting what lies behind…”she expounded on the true essence of forgetting what lies behind and reaching to what lies ahead.

To culminate the celebration, the COT organized the Bible Quiz which was participated in by the five colleges and the laboratory high school. Prof. Adela N. Agnir was the quizmaster while Pastors Florentino Reyes, Jr., Nelson S. Lacadin and Mayrose A. Gacutan were the facilitators. Following the elimination scheme in determining winners, three out 30 participants remained and thus emerged victorious. Ryan Blancaflor, a Theology student surfaced as the champion, Albert Lagpacan, another Theology student was the first-runner up, and Kevin Ines, AB student was the second runner up. Bibles and cash prizes were given to the winners.

The college president, Dr. Caesar I. Agnir, also graced the event. He gave additional cash prizes to the students and faculty alike who answered his witty and trivial questions about the Bible. # Roxane Balneg. Uploaded by Nelson Lacadin and Gregg Bonoan.
